Water Fun

• Swimming and boating in the  blue waters of the Pedernales river. Some of the best fishing is right in front of the house (the bass fishermen come to our part of the river). 
• Boating and jet skiing. Rent watercraft for the day a few miles away at:  www.briarcliffmarina.com/
• Krause Springs www.texasoutside.com/krausesprings.htm  and swimming hole (a fantastic privately run park with a brisk, constant-temperature pool and swimming hole, under huge cypress trees - just a few minutes down the road. They have a great 4th of July fireworks show too!
• Muleshoe (My personal favorite) www.lcra.org/parks/recreation_areas/muleshoe.html This park is right on Lake Travis and has really neat trails all through it (you'll hardly see a soul on the trails) and has pic nic tables all through the park
  
• Pace Bend Park  www.lcra.org/parks/developed_parks/pace_bend.html texas.hometownlocator.com/maps/feature-map,ftc,2,fid,2029657,n,Pace%20Bend%20Park.cfm Many poeple take their boats and launch here - just minutes from the house and is miles of lake front park with pic nic areas, camping and swimming. Is more heavily used than Muleshoe.

Hiking & Parks

• Hike or mountain bike through miles and miles of trails in ery nearby parks that are all on the lake.

Wineries 

• Stone House Vineyard & Winery (5 miles up the street - you'll think you are in Napa Valley - nothing but vines, a lovely patio and peaceful setting). They also offer lovely 4 course chef prepared meals in the evenings with tastings by reservation to 20 to 30 people. Very fun!   stonehousevineyard.com

Relaxing

• Hammock on the deck
• BBQ on the deck
• Watching the birds soar gracefully above the trees right over the deck
• It's quiet out here. Often all we hear is the wind through the trees

Restaurants & Bars

• The Backstage: www.diningoutwithrobbalon.com/review/backstage/index.html Delicious steak, fish, nice: (plan on $70 for two with no drinks or more with drinks). 5 miles down HWY 71
•  Poodie's Hilltop Bar:  www.poodies.info/     Great live bands - owner is Willie Nelson's road manager. Great hamburgers and a local hangout. Very colorful if you can stand the smoke!
• Angles:  www.angelsicehouse.com/ is a Sports Bar and has a great outdoor play ground and area for the kids (picnic tables outside too so you can watch them)- great place for families and solid sports bar menu (great onion rings, turkey burgers and margaritas). A lot of live music and Karaoke too!
• Blue Bonnet Cafe: www.bluebonnetcafe.net/   In Marble Falls right on Hwy 281. Great old country cafe serving breakfast till dinner with everything from Pancakes and grits (like the way I capitalize "Pancakes"? After all, aren't they right up there with God?!) to chicken fried steak. But they are famous for their 10 inch high meringue pies.
• All kinds of bars, theater and restaurants in Marble Falls - 13 miles up the road (too many to mention. Main Street is really old and beautiful with many great local hangouts and even a very fine restaurant)
• Lee's Almost By the Lake:  http://chefmoz.org/United_States/TX/Spicewood/Lee's_Almost_By_The_Lake1056852542.html  5 miles up the road - a real dive with great breakfasts and the friendliest Texans (that's redundant ) you'll ever meet.
• Lake House Cafe: www.lakehousecafe.com/  A beautiful restaurant with huge outdoor multi level patios overlooking the lake. On Friday's in the summer, they often have live music.
